LangEdit

LangEdit is a freeware tool to create or modify language files used by programs created by initware. It allows users to translate the complete user interface, i. e. all program menus, captions, titles, hints and messages of the our programs to a favourite language. LangEdit is easy to use and it only takes minutes to create a new language file.

How to create a new language file:
  1. Open the english language file (named like *English.lng) into the editor and save it under a different name into the same directory.
  2. Edit the right column in the editor.
  3. Save the file.
How to modify an existing language file:
  1. Open the language file (named like *.lng) into the editor.
  2. Edit the right column in the editor.
  3. Save the file.

After editing and saving the language file it can be selected in the application program (look for the language bottom in the symbol bar). The new language settings will be active after a restart of the application program.

Additional Hints:
  • It cannot be guaranteed that a language file edited with this program will work with the main application. To make sure that it works correctly send your new created/modified language file to info@initware.org. We will check your file and make it available for other users, too (your name as the author of the language file will be published on our homepage).
  • Do not translate special strings: ~~ (=new line) and #1, #2, … (=parameters).
  • Changes to the english language file (named like *English.lng) will have no effect to the main application
  • Command line parameter support: A language file can be specified on command line and will be loaded immediately.

Installation:

Program installation was created as easy as possible, because the LangEdit application is just one single file and no additional library/dll files will be installed:

  1. Download the setup program
  2. Run it
  3. Select a destination directory of your choose during the installation process.

By option the installation routine can create some shortcuts for your desktop and start menu automatically.

System requirements:
  • Windows 9x, ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP or newer
  • At least 8 MB of RAM is strongly recommended, 16 MB or more preferred
  • About 2 MB free hard disk space for program installation.
  • Mouse or other Windows-compatible pointing device strongly recommended
